celebrates Cardiff鈥檚 identity as a city with seven Victorian and Edwardian arcades 鈥 each home to unique independent businesses and popular high street names. We launched the brand in 2018 with a competition to name聽聽resulting in over 10,000 votes from the public.
In 2019, we launched the inaugural聽, attracting over 206,000 people to Cardiff for a day of special events and discounts. During the pandemic, we worked with graduates of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to聽聽鈥 creating a Covid-19 safe art exhibition. 2022 saw the return of聽At the heart of the campaign was the Night of the Animal Wall 鈥 an art and sculpture trail inspired by Cardiff Castle鈥檚 famous animal wall.
saw the city come to life with over 100 offers, events and prizes from Cardiff businesses and a giant life-sized playable board game in Central Square.
2024’s City of Arcades celebrations were bigger and better than ever before with three days of festivities and over 120 exclusive offers and events from local businesses, including a Sherry and Cheese Tasting Evening at Curado Bar and a Chocolate Bar Making Workshop at Mrs Potts Chocolate House.
City of Arcades 2025 is set to be a vibrant experiential and digital celebration marking 70 years since Cardiff became the capital of Wales. Over 70 exciting days, from the 5th September to the 14th November, the city will come alive with events, activities, special offers, and fun for all ages.
The celebration is built around five fortnightly themes 鈥 Foodie, Discovery, Arts & Music, History, and Health & Beauty 鈥 each shining a spotlight on the very best of what Cardiff has to offer.
Our campaigns and events will continue to build on the success of this brand and put it at the heart of every customer facing campaign we do, with a focus on driving footfall and spend for the whole of the city centre.
